COLOMBO (Citizen) - Opposition MP Harsha de Silva asked the country to remember yesterday (October 22) as the day democracy was shot in the heart. The minister made the statements via social media. The post was accompanied by a dramatic picture of Minister de Silva and MP Sarath Fonseka in seemingly bloodied clothes to create the impression of having been shot and injured.
“Many human rights including the freedom of speech and the freedom to oppose have been lost in this land from today. Those who are jubilant today will also one day realize the depth of the sin they have committed,” he said. The minister also added that the general public would realize from today (October 23) that their peace of mind would be crushed. “If this is the will of the people, then what can we do?” he asked.
