Indian media reports that the family of Indian Bollywood actor Salman Khan have acquired the Kandy Tuskers franchise in the Sri Lanka Premier League (LPL). Salman Khan’s family have also confirmed that Salman Khan will be joining the Kandy team to watch the matches the Tuskers take part in, according to the same reports.
The acquisition was made by Sohail Khan International LLP, a consortium which Salman Khan’s younger brother Sohail Khan and father (noted script writer) Salim Khan are also part of. They confirmed the acquisition of the franchise to Times of India and stated that they “see a lot of potential” in the team.
The Kandy Tuskers team includes foreign players such as Jamaican cricketer Chris Gayle and English cricketer Liam Plunkett as well as Kusal Mendis, Nuwan Pradeep and Kusal Janith.
