Dr. Roshan Perera has been appointed as an independent non-executive Director of Senkadagala Finance. Having formerly served as the Director of the Central Bank in charge of the Risk Management Department, she has also served in several other positions within the Central Bank including as Additional Director at the Bank Supervision Department and Deputy Director of the Economic Research Department. She has also worked as a consultant for several institutions including the Institute of Policy Studies, World Bank and UNDP. She was also the Director in charge of the Banking Cluster of the Ministry of Public Enterprise Development.
Having graduated from the University of Colombo with both Bachelor’s degree in Economics, she then pursued her Master’s degree there before obtaining her PhD from the University of Melbourne, both of which were also in Economics. She also recently received a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Harvard.
Dr. Perera says that she is pleased to have joined the Board of Directors of an esteemed finance company like Senkadagala Finance and that she expects to help the company grow even further. “I look forward to enhancing the current growth which Senkadagala Finance has displayed in the recent past,” she says.
Established in 1968 in Kandy, Senkadagala Finance PLC is one of the largest licensed finance companies in Sri Lanka, with a network of 100 branches. A key focus for the bank has been improving financial inclusion and developing rural entrepreneurship, specifically for women entrepreneurs, and as such they have partnered with international development financial institutions such the International Finance Corporation (IFC - a sister organisation of the World Bank) as well as the Dutch Development Bank (FMO) and other leading banks in Sri Lanka.
