The Ministry of Health announced in a media statement that measures are underway to commence home deliveries of medicine for patients in Colombo and Gampaha from tomorrow (October 13). The service will be for people currently taking medication prescribed by a government hospital, especially for chronic illnesses. Delivery will begin in Colombo and Gampaha and is then expected to be extended to the whole island shortly. The service aims to reduce the amount of people who visit hospitals, with a particular focus on allowing the elderly and other persons in a high risk category for COVID-19 to minimise their risk of infection.
Patients who show symptoms of COVID-19 are reminded once again to visit the nearest government hospital without delay. The Ministry also requests that the public remain calm and extend their fullest cooperation to the government in order to combat the spread of COVID-19.
