COLOMBO (Citizen) - Controversy erupted on social media yesterday (October 7) based on unconfirmed reports that the Minuwangoda COVID-19 cluster was created by 60 Indians who arrived at the garment factory. The reports claimed that these individuals had not undergone curfew. These reports claimed that the foreigners were brought to Sri Lanka through the Mattala Airport.
Commenting on these claims to the media this morning, Army Commander Shavendra Silva stated that it was not 60 but rather 48 persons who had arrived in Sri Lanka through the Mattala Airport. He further stated that they were quarantined at a private hotel in Kosgoda at the request of the relevant institution. The Army Commander also stated that the group was quarantined for 14 days under the protection of the Army.
